STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES

We have taken over $680 million worth of school projects through the state funding process. Virtually every project we’ve done for the past 25 years has been state funded and has mandated meeting OPSC requirements. We have excellent working relationships with the Division of the State Architect (DSA), the California Department of Education (CDE), and the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC). These long established contacts serve us and our clients well to expedite agency approvals, and greatly assist our efforts in project certification and closeout. Successful quality control in school design relies on agency involvement during the design process.

Recently, we have worked with the Pittsburg Unified School District on multiple new campuses. We encountered major plan review delays with the DSA Oakland office while taking the first school through the review process, due to a backlog. We took a pro-active approach for the second school and met with DSA officials, establishing review milestone commitments. By doing this, we ensured that the project was reviewed and returned to us in a timely manner, allowing the school to open as scheduled.

FUNDING

We have a vast knowledge of the funding process and procedures for K-12 school projects. Every project we have completed in the past twenty five years has been at least partially state funded. This boils down to obtaining DSA approval, CDE approval, and finally OPSC approval of a project. We are well versed in each state agencies requirements and proper formats of submittals.

We have found that many clients prefer working with funding consultants to ease the workload on their employees. We have, and continue to, successfully work with multiple funding consultants, and have many we can recommend if required or requested.

DSA CLOSEOUT

An important piece of each school project is the certification and close of file process through DSA which occurs when a project is complete. Not only is this important for OPSC audits, but for the District, as it certifies the project has been constructed per DSA, CDE, and any local agencies requirements.

We stay on top of this portion of the project and ultimately coordinate with the District, Inspector, Contractor, Consultants, DSA personnel, and Testing Labs to make sure DSA receives all required documentation in a timely manner.
