The Pittsburg Unified School District held a grand opening of the new Black Diamond High School on Saturday, August 25, 2012. Black Diamond High School is a new 34,000 square foot continuation high school facility, which replaces the deteriorated Riverside Continuation High School.

The Grand Opening ceremony was smoothly run by Superintendent Linda Rondeau, and included speakers from the PUSD school board, local assembly members, and Black Diamond High School Principal Joseph Alvarez, whose inspiring speech highlighted how this state of the art facility will continue to motivate and support all students whose educational path brings them to this campus.

The contractor Broward Builders built an incredible campus, completing the entire facility in under one year, and the Construction Manager RGM and Associates efficiently kept the project on schedule and on budget.

Just some of the stellar features this steel framed campus include a large, enclosed innercourt, a dedicated area for the child development programs, a spacious multipurpose/cafeteria with a prep kitchen, 19 classrooms, 2 dedicated special education classrooms, and adjacent hard court areas.
