MASTER PLANNING

The key element of our designs is campus master planning. Whether the scope of work includes modernizing a single building, adding several buildings, or creating an entire new campus, master planning is the most important phase of design. Every building either contributes or detracts from the overall function of a campus. Master planning insures that a project increases the functional capacity of your campus and insures that each project implements a School District’s goals.

Our projects meet departmental needs by providing spaces that both respond to individual classroom concerns and provide teacher planning areas. Central conferencing areas allow teachers to coordinate curriculum and plan teaching strategies, and are centrally located to allow for immediate access to classrooms. Administrators need sight lines to public access areas as well as the social grouping areas of the campus. We master plan for security issues as well as convenient surveillance.

To reinforce pedestrian circulation patterns, students need buildings that are placed correctly on the campus and that respond to the intricacies of the site. Our designs meet departmental needs by providing spaces that both respond to individual classroom concerns and teacher planning areas.

Specifically, our school designs focus on the following fundamentals:

    • A clean, recognizable school entrance and access
    • Efficient and clear campus circulation patterns
    • Supervisable and secure outdoor assembly, instructional, and circulation areas
    • Design responds to district curriculum needs
