Project Description

The new Rancho Medanos Junior High School is designed to accommodate approximately 1,000 students with additional expansion space for up to 1,200 students.

The two-story school is integrated into the site that slopes from Range Road down to the back of the site. The entry level of the front of the school becomes the second level of the classroom wings. At the center of the classroom wing is the library/media center which is oriented to take advantage of the commanding views of Pittsburg.

The campus is organized around a central secured courtyard, which allows complete supervision of every classroom entrance while providing open student gathering space, a central amphitheater and covered outdoor dining.

The campus is designed to allow daily evening community use of the gymnasium and playfi elds, yet keeping the rest of the campus secure.
