Project Description

The Rolling Hills Elementary School is organized with all classrooms oriented toward the central courtyard. The common spaces, including Library/Media Center and Multipurpose Room, also open to the cental amphitheater and courtyard. To best utilize the irregular shaped sloping site, the school is a two-story campus. The primary entrance to the building is at the high end of the site, on which side the campus is one story. The school is designed to present a low, residentail scale on the entrance side, and is compatible with the character of the neighborhood.

The school is designed to incorporate networked computer systems for educational and administration uses. The entire school is interconnected, and linked with all other facilities in the district. The campus includes infrastructure to allow full computerization of all classrooms, as well as separate computer spaces in the Library/Media Center for specialized instruction.
